Garden designer Sam Moore is celebrating success. The former Writtle University College (WUC) student has been awarded a silver medal for his show garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival.
Sam worked for award-winning companies before founding Consilium Hortus, the home of bespoke garden design solutions.
The SunsLifestyle Outdoor Living Garden, his creation for Hampton Court, reflects luxurious outdoor living, with five large multi-stem trees and lush textural, colourful planting.
WUC's Level 3 Horticulture team were invited to contribute to the garden, by growing plants and supporting Ashworth Specialist Landscapes during the construction process.
Sam said: "I'm a Writtle University College graduate and the work I carried out with an RHS Show Garden was one of the many highlights of my time there. I was delighted to be in a position to offer the next generation of students the same exciting opportunity.
"The SunsLifestyle Outdoor Living Garden is a beautiful space and I'm very pleased that we have received an award."
Lucy, a WUC horticulture student, said: "It's been an amazing experience. We have loved it."
Work on the show garden was part of WUC's ongoing commitment to putting science into practice. The Essex-based educational institution has been teaching land-based courses since 1893 and works to combine expert theory with hands-on industry-relevant experience.
Richard Batey WUC's Further Education Curriculum Team Leader for Horticulture, Land & Wildlife, said: "We would like to thank Sam Moore for offering our current students the opportunity to put their knowledge and skills to use at such a prestigious, globally-recognised event. This is a show-stopping garden and our students have worked extremely hard to produce fantastic species - well done!"
RHS Hampton Court takes place from 4th-9th July. Like all RHS Flower Festivals, it is known for its spectacular gardens which highlight the best and latest design trends.
