In Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd May, Writtle University College's Floristry students exhibited their work at the National Flower Show.

The event took place at Hylands House & Estate near Chelmsford and celebrated an 'Alice in Wonderland Floral Experience'. The University College used floral archways, flower-filled tea pots and other stunning displays to transform the space into an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party.

Lecturers Elaine Thackray and Jane Hyde were pleased to see students from levels two, three and four working together to create a wide range of materials.

Visitors to the show were offered the chance to win students' hand-made origami topiary trees. Raffle entries raised over £360 for P.O.R.T, a charity which conducts research into disorders of the digestive and intestinal tract.

Lecturer and Curriculum leader Jan Metcalfe said: "We're all incredibly proud of our students. Their work was highly professional and a real highlight of the show. We’re also delighted that we managed to raise money for an important cause. Thank you to our sponsors Blooms of Essex, Liberty Flowers and Spicer Designs Ltd. Their support made our exhibition possible."
