Further education sport student Alex Lapsky has been enjoying success in ice dancing championships around the globe.
Alex and skate partner, Sophia, took part in their first competition together in September, where they gained overall first place at the Junior British Championships Qualifier, in Sheffield. They skated their Rhythm Dance, to Grease Lightening and their Free Dance, to a mix of Queen tracks.
They then represented Team GB in their first Junior Grand Prix in Kosice, Slovakia on the 3rd and 4th of September, where they placed 14th overall. A few weeks later, they competed in the Ukraine where they placed 6th and achieved the qualifying scores for the Junior World Championships, taking place March 2022.
Alex and Sophia have a rigorous training programme, skating five days a week at Romford and Alexandra Palace ice rinks. They also train numerous times throughout the week in the gym and at a local Latin dance class.
Over the coming weeks, they will be competing in the Czech Republic and Andorra as well as taking part in the Junior British Championships, being held in Sheffield in December.
Alex said: "I am very pleased with my recent performances, achieving qualifying scores for the Junior Worlds. Skating is my passion, and my ambition is to reach the Olympics in the future."
