Writtle University College lecturer, Mark Williams, published his latest research with the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education.

'Youth Basketball Coaches' Perceptions and Implementation of Fundamental Movement Skills Training: Toward a Realist Evaluation' was published on September 1st and is co-authored by Andrew M. Hammond and Jason Moran.

The article reported that the participants had a comprehension of fundamental movement skills and acknowledged their value in the long-term development of youth players. However, there appeared to be varying levels of uptake among the surveyed coaches.

Mark, who is a Strength & Conditioning Coach for Basketball England, will include the research within his PhD.

He said: "I am delighted to see the publication of work from my PhD. The findings suggest there is a need for governing bodies to develop innovative strategies to persuade youth basketball coaches to adopt non-sports-specific movement skills to improve their practice."
