Writtle University College FE Sport Students complete their Leaders in Training Programme thanks to Active Essex.
Students from Writtle University College's FE Sport Department have made a productive use of their final weeks at college to add to their coaching CPD portfolio by completing the Active Essex Leader's in Training; a week long, multi award training course enabling them to take a more active role in grassroots sport.
Writtle Female Football Academy player Phoebe Keys said: "I really enjoyed participating in the LIT programme and feel the qualifications I received will help me to pursue my career in the future".
Fellow FE Sport Student Harvey Redgrave added: "The LIT training courses were really helpful and insightful - I've already used them to apply for multiple summer coaching jobs and have secured two interviews".
This course comes at the end of a great year for sport student CPD, with students already having completed their FA Playmaker Award, FA Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course and UK Coaching's Inclusive Activity Certificate.
Writtle University College Sport Development and Engagement Manager Amy Grimsey said: "we strive to offer the best opportunities to our students to develop their knowledge and experience in the sport industry. Post-programme, which included a Basketball Activator qualification, four of the students volunteered to support Writtle University College launch the UK's first permanent, dedicated 3x3 basketball facility situated here on campus. I'm looking forward to providing more opportunities, CPD and experience for 2021/22".
Alice Langley, Course Manager for the Coaching, Personal Training and Female Football Academy pathways added: "I am extremely proud of how the students have engaged with these extra qualifications throughout the year. It's great to see how they have applied themselves to their studies both on their academic programme and towards their coaching pathway".
