Writtle University College's Student Success team has revealed the winners of the first 'Kindness at WUC' awards. The campaign followed a challenging year, which saw students and staff working tirelessly to support one another throughout lockdown. Members of the Writtle community were asked to celebrate acts of compassion by nominating each other for acts of kindness and compassion.
Student Success Team member, John McMahon, said: "We were delighted to receive such a strong response. Over the last year many of us have gone above and beyond to help one another and it was fantastic to acknowledge the many wonderful acts of support carried out by our Writtle Family. We'd like to thank everyone who has taken part."
The organisers received a large number of nominations and were proud to see the levels of friendship and kindness displayed throughout the community. The student and staff winners were as follows:
Student Kindness at WUC Award: Stephanie Jones
"She was dedicated to checking up on her friends who were self-isolating, by text/call/email or by stopping by their windows and standing (at a distance) in all weather, as well as bringing treats."
"Overall, she is one of the kindest, most loving people I've ever met and she deserves to be acknowledged as she often goes over looked."
Staff Kindness at WUC Award: Tim Caroen
"Tim is always exceptionally helpful in classes and very approachable in answering any questions. Whenever you see him on campus he will stop and chat with a positive attitude."
"He was fantastic when my housemates and course mates had returned home by keeping me occupied and catching up."
All nominees and everyone who put forward a name will receive a kindness badge.
