Lecturer in Sport Science and GB Basketball Strength & Conditioning coach, Mark Williams, enjoyed a guest appearance on a popular sports podcast. The Deep Dive is hosted by Simon Nainby, and regularly features leading coaches from a range of sectors.

In the two-part podcast, Mark describes his career path and the journey he made from a semi-pro rugby player to a professional coach. Mark also discusses lessons learnt from lockdown and the value of focussing on the basics of movement.

The podcast is essential listening for anyone with an interest in Strength & Conditioning. Simon and Mark analyse ways in which the controlled environment of the gym can carry over to the chaos of sport. They also trace the evolution of Mark's thinking, from questioning the importance of Strength & Conditioning to the role he now sees it playing in developing players.

Mark commented: "I was pleased be asked to appear on the Deep Dive. It was a good opportunity to discuss ideas and developments within Strength & Conditioning and emphasise the importance of mobility and basic movement patterning."

The podcast will be of special interest to current and prospective coaches. Mark is highly experienced in multiple areas and works closely with students studying BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science (Coaching).
