It's our College and University students' time to shine! The Student Spotlight Awards launched in 2019, to celebrate outstanding success. By popular demand, we'll be making the awards an annual occurrence and asking members of our teaching and support staff to identify students who really go the extra mile.

Many of our students achieve success beyond their studies and use their time at Writtle to take their first strides into the workplace. The University College is delighted to support the establishment of professional networks and entrepreneurial initiatives. Staff are recognising achievements beyond the classroom by nominating learners who excel in one of the following fields:

  • Community Excellence: Transforming lives by helping or representing others in the community
  • Extracurricular Excellence: Achieving personal success outside of their studies
  • Enterprise Excellence: Founding an entrepreneurial venture or establishing innovative careers connections

2019's Student of the Year, Kaile Sherry, excelled in two separate categories, Enterprise Excellence and Extracurricular Excellence, after displaying exceptional commitment, organisational abilities and subject knowledge.

She said: "I was really honoured to be nominated twice. I tried to make the most of every opportunity I received at Writtle throughout my studies, course related and externally. It felt incredible to have my work acknowledged by the institution. Not only was it great to be recognised, to me it was something else that would really improve my CV!"
