Aramark, one of the UK's premier food companies, has been awarded a five-year catering contract with Writtle University College (WUC).
The contract will serve as an opportunity to introduce new offerings, including a relaunch of WUC's highly popular main restaurant, The Garden Room.
The Aramark team plans to showcase the latest food concepts. Catering outlets will boast extended opening hours to better meet student needs and plans to expand the reach of the new food services even further are already in the pipeline. New initiatives, such as a plant-based food counter in The Garden Room, will offer students increased choice.
With WUC's green agenda in mind, Aramark aims to replace single-use items with dispensers wherever possible. Any disposable cutlery and crockery used will be completely biodegradable. Aramark will continue the sale of reusable coffee cups, offering a discount when they are used.
To optimise the customer experience, the Garden Room, Thyme Out and The Watering Hole will gain an updated look and feel. To ensure students enjoy easy access to hot and cold food, closures due to refurbishment work will be staggered. Whilst The Garden Room is being refurbished, Thyme Out and The Watering Hole will be open from 6th January 2020 with support from 'The Catering Van', which will be located in the carpark behind main building. All outlets will be fully operational by 20th January 2020.

In a first for the Writtle University campus, Aramark also plans to bring a Starbucks offering. Students will soon be able to enjoy a coffee or a tasty treat in a new purpose-designed space within The Garden Room. Costa will remain as an alternative in other outlets on campus.
