Writtle University College is proud to announce the launch of a new Masters course for September 2019.

MA in Creative Practice aims to cultivate confidence, originality and independence in art practices and analysis by those who take it. The course is available on a full time (one year) or part time (two year) basis and will be delivered by professionals actively engaged in both the creative world and academia.

MA in Creative Practice enables students from a variety of backgrounds – art, design, floristry, visual cultures and other creative undergraduate degrees – to build upon their individual experiences in a high level, Fine Art context.

The unique heritage of WUC as a leading landbased institution allows students the option to integrate horticulture, equine, floristry or other subjects into an expanded practice, based in the fine arts tradition.

Research by practice will be key. Students must create a body of work (visual, aural or textual) to be displayed at WUC’s prestigious, annual Design Degree Show. They will be marked upon how closely the curation and presentation of their work adheres to current professional standards.

In addition, students will be required to submit work to at least four professional exhibitions, increasing their chance of professional exposure during or shortly after the course.

Artist, writer and composer, Dr Michael Szpakowski, has designed and is leading the new course: “Whatever your creative interest is, this course can help you to do it better, more thoughtfully and more successfully.”

“At the end of it you’ll not only be working better and more confidently but you’ll think and speak about what you do and the work of others more deeply and more clearly. You’ll have showcased what you can do in an exhibition organised to professional standards and you’ll have started, even before the end of the programme, to apply for professional opportunities yourself.

“In the world of 21st century work the creative, organisational and problem solving skills you’ll develop on this programme will be essential in just about every possible career.”
