A Writtle University College student has been selected for the British Athletics Paralympic Development Academy.

Ggo Mizuma, who is studying on the BSc (Hons) Sports and Exercise Performance programme, has been selected for the British Athletics Paralympic Development Academy in Wheelchair racing, an elite programme for athletes with aspirations to compete on the World Stage.

The 20-year-old was selected for the development programme which focuses on supporting athletes through specific technical development squad-based training, learning from some of the best athletes in the country. The programme has a tough selection process, prioritising athletes who have potential to win medals at future Paralympic games.

Ggo attended his first development Academy Camp on the 13th January at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, which provided an introduction into an elite training environment with exposure to working alongside expert and specialist practitioners.

The BSc (Hons) in Sports and Exercise Performance course is designed for students who wish to pursue a programme with strong physiological, biomechanical and psychological elements combined with the theory and a practical approach to coaching and performance at all levels. The course also provides students with the opportunity to complete National governing Body coaching qualifications and Sports Coach UK awards.
