We have launched our new City and Guilds technical programmes in Agriculture with an Employers' Breakfast.

The event was held so that staff delivering work-based programmes and the new technical programmes in Agriculture - which start in September - could work with employers to establish any gaps in the skills market and support teaching provided at Writtle.

It also gave the University College the opportunity to engage with employers about the delivery of our courses, including the units we offer, and to ensure this is appropriate to the needs of the industry.

Employers were keen to offer their support and time to the students by offering work placements as appropriate, host visits to their farms and to come in as guest speakers to talk about employment in the sector and to pass on their specialist knowledge.

Employers could also find out more about the new Standards in Agricultural Apprenticeships, which will be offered at Writtle University College.

Gillian Griffin, Curriculum Area Manager for Land-based, Dog Grooming and Work-Based Animal Further Education courses, said: “The Employer Breakfast was designed as an opportunity to work together with agricultural employers in the region so that our courses and the learning outcomes of students meet the requirements of the future of the industry.”

Apply now for the new technical programmes in Agriculture and start in September 2018. Anyone interested should contact Admissions on 01245 424200.
