Success at Suffolk Show!

Writtle University College has won the Inter-College Young Handlers competition at the Suffolk Show while the Red Poll cattle we presented won three classes!

The overall winner of the Inter-College Young Handlers competition was Megan Clifford handling Creeting Gallium. She went up against students from Capel Manor, Easton & Otley and Shuttleworth colleges to gain the championship title.

The WUC results were:

1st Megan Clifford (BSc Hons Animal Management Year 2) handling Creeting Gallium

2nd Marrielle Gaffney (BSc Hons Agriculture Year 2) handling Creeting Gus

3rd Josh Ackland (Level 2 Diploma in Agriculture) handling Watergate Impulse

4th Alice Kennedy (Integrated Masters Veterinary Physiotherapy Year 2) handling Creeting Gary

5th Jess Guidez-Hughes (Foundation Degree Animal Management Year 2) handling Watergate India

Students from Writtle University College also presented Red Poll cattle kindly loaned by Roger Beescroft.

The results were:

2nd Creeting Giselle shown by Amy Bridge (Integrated Masters Veterinary Physiotherapy Year 2)

Class: Bull born after 1st Jan 2016

1st Creeting Gus shown by Josh Ackland, assisted by Sarah Boon (BSc Hons Animal Science Year 1)

2nd Creeting Gary shown by Alice Kennedy, assisted by Jess Guidez-Hughes

Class: Champion Maiden heifer

Reserve Creeting Gallium shown by Megan Clifford
