Floristry staff and students from Writtle College created a variety of floral table arrangements for the Essex Chronicle’s annual ‘Heart of Essex’ awards 2015.

Two dedicated Level 2 diploma in floristry students, who assisted with the creation in their free time, produced the table decoration featuring a variety of flowers in keeping with a ‘summertime’ theme, which included Roses, Veronica and Solidago. Each arrangement echoed a beautiful vintage inspired look, with the flowers presented in jam jars.

Janice Metcalfe, Lecturer in Floristry, said: “We were delighted to be approached by the Essex Chronicle to make the table centrepieces for the Heart of Essex awards. This is the fifth year we have provided the flowers for the event and it’s a wonderful opportunity for staff and students to be able to support the achievements of the local community, whilst being able to showcase the creative skills our students learn when studying a floristry course here at Writtle.”

The Heart of Essex awards presentation evening took place at Hylands House in Chelmsford on the evening of Monday 8th August.
