Dressage star and Writtle College student Gaby Lucas has won her first international at the Hickstead International this month.
Gaby, who completed a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management at the College and is going to continue to study here for a degree in Equine Sports Therapy starting in September, won the junior Kur at Hickstead International on 71.55% on her horse Laurentius II.
The 18-year-old said: “I was very pleased with all three of my tests especially my individual and Kur as I felt I achieved all of my test targets. They are my first ever international wins and to be on home land is amazing. I am so happy how much progression we have both made in the last year.
“I would like to thank my sponsors Ani- Mate, Swarovski, Ingatestone Saddlery Centre and supporters NAF and EAF. I would also like to thank everyone who came and supported me at Hickstead CDI and of course selectors and the British Equestrian Federation’s World Class Development Programme.”
Gaby, who lives in Brentwood, has been riding since the age of two. In April, she was part of the four-strong team which won gold in Saumur, in southern France, in the Junior Nations Cup.
