"Studying at Writtle University College helped to deepen my understanding on areas such as nutrition, equine physiology, sports performance and veterinary conditions. This has been incredibly beneficial to my career, giving me the knowledge to write on a range of horsey topics and work with experts across the equine industry."

"When I was deciding which university to study at whilst completing my A-Levels, I went to open days at five or six different universities around the UK and in Ireland. Writtle was my first choice for a number of reasons; it offered a variety of different courses in the field I was interested in (mainly horses and therapy), the facilities were of a very high standard, especially compared with some of the other institutions I visited, and finally the onsite livery option allowing students to being their horse with them to university. For me this was of vital importance, as although I was very keen to study an equine based degree, I did not wish to give up riding on a daily basis nor was I willing to give up my horse."

"My time at Writtle University College was an experience I will never forget; if I could do it all again I would in a heartbeat! I would not have been fortunate enough to be in a career that I love without the degree that I chose - which I have been told makes me a stand-out candidate for the all the roles I have been employed in since I graduated.

I really enjoyed the hands-on experience that I was able to obtain at Writtle and I doubt there are many universities that can offer such a unique opportunity to develop your practical skills in a professional environment. I found the practical experience complemented my theory-based lectures perfectly as I was able to transfer the knowledge I was gaining in the lecture theatre to real-life scenarios."

The Writtle University College (WUC) Equine team has a proven reputation for delivering exceptional equine degree programmes and enhancing students' employability with a practical hands-on learning approach. The industry links and reputation built around our Equine and Veterinary Physiotherapy courses have enabled the team to create the
WUC Equine Academy.

The WUC Equine Academy is a new initiative aimed at supporting between six and 12 talented riders for one academic year (with the potential for this to be extended) whilst the rider is studying for any Higher Education award at Writtle University College.

Students have access to all facilities across the campus, including both of the yards so you can practice the skills that you learn in lectures and practicals. Many students take on project horses, developing their training or rehab programmes, and work on behavioural issues.

We offer a diverse and novel range of teaching and assessment techniques, with less focus on exams and more on relevant technologies, presentation and writing styles to challenge and develop your academic and practical skills.
