Tree and Shrub Identification

About the Course

This practical-based workshop will look at methods of identifying trees and shrubs using the extensive grounds of Writtle University College.

The day aims to enable candidates to identify the main native and naturalised broad-leaved trees and shrubs found in the grounds. It will focus on identification from bark, twigs, buds, seeds and fruit of the trees.

We will also look at evergreen shrubs and conifers.

Please bring in any of your own unidentified plants to share with the group.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to wear work clothes suitable for the weather including sturdy footwear, preferably with steel toe caps and work gloves.

By making a booking you are declaring yourself medically fit to participate in the course.

Useful Information

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Please bring a packed lunch and all refreshments needed for the day.
