Study Skills Service

What support is provided by the Study Skills service?

Academic Writing Support

This support service covers everything related to written assignments like essays, reports or even slides for a presentation. Typical subjects for 1-1 sessions and workshops include developing a suitable academic writing style, organising your writing, and correctly using references to avoid plagiarism. Academic writing support is available to students throughout their time at Writtle, helping to keep students on track to achieve their qualification, but this can be especially useful during your first year, when writing degree-level assignments may be new and challenging.

Digital IT Skills for Study

The IT skills support we offer includes a rolling schedule of training sessions and small workshops from beginner to expert in everything you need to support your Higher Education qualification, for example: formatting assignments and dissertations, presentation skills, databases, Zotero, Mahara, and Microsoft Excel. 1-1 help can also be booked for everything relating to digital IT skills for study.

Support with Statistics

Statistics is a part of study for which tutors have found students often ask for extra tuition, and the Student Success Team can provide 1-1 sessions and workshops to provide support that runs alongside academic teaching.

Learning Mentors

Our Learning Mentor team works with your course and exams teams to reach out and invite students for tailored 1-1 sessions. At one of these they will check how your studies are going and discuss ways to empower you to access the support you need to achieve success! Our Learning Mentor team runs regular workshops to help you create healthy study habits (workshops include time management, organisational skills, beating procrastination, confidence boosters, and preparing for examinations).
