Professor Tim Middleton
Tim has overall responsibility for the strategic direction and leadership of Writtle University College (WUC). As Vice-Chancellor he heads the senior leadership team and is responsible for working with key stakeholders across the organisation and beyond to implement the strategic vision for WUC.
Tim joined WUC in August 2017 and has over 20 years' experience of working within the higher education sector and as a senior manager has led a wide-range of Curriculum, Research & Enterprise, Partnership and Estates work. Prior to taking up post at Writtle he worked as Pro Vice-Chancellor Research & Enterprise at Buckinghamshire New University. Tim's other experience includes Vice Provost (Research & Enterprise) at Bath Spa University, in addition to several held academic positions at York St John University.
Director of Human Resources
As the Director of Human Resources, Janine is responsible for delivering a proficient Human Resources service, promoting good practice in people management, supported by the existence of processes and policies which ensure that Writtle University College remains legally compliant and maintains a strong focus on enhancing the student experience through the delivery of inspiring education underpinned by effective performance management.
Janine is also the senior staff member of Writtle's management team with lead responsibility for Safeguarding, supported by the Safeguarding & Wellbeing Manager and Safeguarding Officers.
A fully qualified member of the CIPD holding Chartered Member status, with an Honours degree in Business Studies, Janine, joined the organisation in 2005 having previously developed her HR Management career for 9 years in the private sector Luxury Hotel Industry.
Registrar and University College Secretary
Holly leads the University College's academic and related services, including its registry and quality assurance functions, marketing & recruitment, library and IT services. She also acts as secretary to the WUC Board of Governors, providing advice and support to ensure that the University College is compliant with its regulatory and legal duties and that governance is discharged effectively.
Holly joined WUC on an interim basis in March 2018 and became a permanent member of the leadership group in October 2019. Holly has 15 years' experience in the higher education sector, with a background in strategic planning and business intelligence. Prior to working at WUC she held registrar and secretary positions at GSM London and the University of East London.
