They are based in the HE Hub and some staff are awake through the night if residential students need help. They help with lock outs, fire alarms, first aid (including mental health first aid), noise complaints, anti-social behaviour and pastoral support. They offer advice and guidance and will signpost and help students get support externally if required.

We have Residential Student Support Officers (RSSOs) that are based in the HE Hub and are available for pastoral support throughout the night. They also put on regular events such as Movie Night, Trips to Aldi for the weekly shop, Canine Concern canine therapy sessions and more.

Residential Assistants (RAs) are staff members who live onsite in halls and are here to help if you are locked out, the fire alarm is ringing or if there are emergencies in the evening. They are on call on a rota and can be reached on 07880 557796. They work until midnight when the RSSO takes over so there is always cover.

There are also Hall Reps are senior students who live in halls and are here to help build a community feel, provide us with student feedback and signpost student to relevant support.

Residential Student Induction

All resident students must take part in various induction activities to ensure they have the information they need to live safely on site. The induction includes information about living in halls, support available, what to do in an emergency situation and some training around consent.
