About the Course

Writtle University College Supporting Excellence in Landscape Construction sponsored by Global Stone, The Association of Professional Landscapers and Aquacut.

These lectures are aimed at professionals and companies, not DIY enthusiasts.

Workshop 1: Understanding the World of Porcelain Paving

This workshop explores the various porcelain products on the market place including understanding specification, slip resistance, thickness of porcelain tile, styles and laying patterns. It will cover the attributes and benefits of porcelain and in which situation they will be suitable. The session will also cover:

Cutting and bespoke as well as specialist tools for lifting, finishing and cleaning. Demonstrate the range of products that can be created (which they do) and answer questions to help problem solve details and fiddly issues.

Workshop 2: Understanding Laying Methods for Porcelain Paving

Laying with a mortar bed on a type 1 sub-base. Slurry application, mixes, spacing, drainage falls, haunching (where applicable), manual handling for health and safety and damage reduction, spacers.

Laying on a screed base, ditra mat pro’s and con’s, methods and tools, wall to drain to surface methods for seamless finish and effective water control.

Grouting methods and cleaning.
