Hand Held Applicator - Knapsack
This one day practical module should be taken after the PA1 module has been completed. The training is designed for operators using a knapsack sprayer with hydraulic nozzles or rotary atomisers to apply pesticides to land. Topics covered will include:
The module requires an understanding of pesticide labels and regulations. This is in compliance with regulations and directives from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Calculations and interpreting information is an integral part of the training.
Other application methods include:
PA6AW Operating Pedestrian Hand Held Applicators Fitted with Hydraulic Nozzles or Rotary Atomisers to Apply Pesticides to or Near Water (using a knapsack in or near water)
PA6MC Operating other Hand Held Applicators Requiring Minimal Calibration (CDA Controlled Droplet Applicator)

Entry Requirements
Candidates may attend training however City & Guilds state candidates must not go forward for testing until the PA1 unit has been achieved.
They will not be allowed to start the course without the correct Personal Protective Equipment which should include:

- Waterproof Wellington boots
- Sprayer face shield
- Type 5/6 disposable coveralls
- Unlined nitrile gloves
Useful Information
Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.
