About the Course

Level 3 Certificate of Competence in Use of a Chainsaw from a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) is for individuals who operate and carry out tasks using a chainsaw from a mobile elevated work platform as part of their work in arboriculture, forestry, or other industries. It will provide the knowledge, understanding and skills required to carry out this work.

Topics covered include hazards, risks, controls, emergency procedures, industry guides, legislation, safe working loads, setting up and operating a mobile elevated work platform and using a chainsaw from a MEWP.

To achieve this qualification candidates must successfully achieve a one to one practical assessment with oral questioning by an NPTC City & Guilds approved assessor.

Entry Requirements

This intensive practical course requires a good level of physical fitness and an ability to study written technical information.

Candidates must be competent in Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting, Felling and the operation of a MEWP.
