About the Course
This Level 2 Award in Canine Care, Health and Behaviour has been developed to meet the needs of candidates who wish to work with dogs but have limited existing knowledge or experience. Completion of this qualification provides an excellent platform for progression into the canine industry and/or for completing further study in the subject area.
This Ofqual regulated qualification course is a general ‘all-rounder’ at a basic level. At the end of the course candidates will be able to understand essential care of the dog, identify legislation relevant to keeping dogs, explain the nutritional requirements of dogs, recognise basic canine body language, understand techniques for handling and restraint, outline basic principles of training, identify basic canine anatomy, recognise disease and how it could be prevented.
All sessions must be attended and candidates will be assessed through the completion of a workbook which must all be passed in order to achieve the qualification. There will be a significant amount of self-study required between sessions (approximately 36 hours).
