Legal Status

Writtle University College is a higher education corporation established under section 124A(3) and (4) of the Education Reform Act 1988. In May 2016 the Privy Council awarded us University College status and our name changed from Writtle Agricultural College to Writtle University College.

Charity Information

Writtle University College is an exempt charity subject to the provisions of the Charities Act 2006 (subsequently consolidated in the Charities Act 2011). From 1 June 2010, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) became the principal regulator for all higher education institutions (HEIs) in England that are exempt charities.
