Garden Design - An Introduction

About the Course

This 10 week course aims to provide participants with an introductory understanding of the procedures, processes and principles of garden design and how these are applied in practice via a hypothetical garden site.

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Develop a client brief
  • Review a site survey and site analysis of a project site
  • Compile a mood board/concept board for proposed design ideas
  • Prepare site functional bubble diagrams based on the clients brief
  • Development of shape and form as patterns
  • Development of a Design Layout Plan
  • Presentation of final design proposals in 2-D formats

Entry Requirements

Participants are required to bring their own drawing materials i.e. Pencils, pens, scale ruler, flexi-curve, set-squares and a size A2 drawing portfolio.

Advice will be given on drawing materials and equipment throughout the course. Drawing paper will be supplied.

What Next?

Upon successful completion of the Garden Design - Introduction, participants are able to build on their skills by moving on to the Garden Design - Intermediate course

Useful Information

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Participants are advised to bring any refreshments they may need.
