Equine First Aid - An Introduction

About the Course

This 3 hour workshop is ideal for first time horse owners or anyone wanting to find out more about horse care.

The session is a blend of demonstration and practical experience covering basic first aid in an emergency situation, how to treat minor injuries and recognising signs of ill health. Advice will also be given on post veterinary care.

Topics covered include temperature, pulse, respiration, colic, bandaging and applying a foot poultice.

Entry Requirements

Minimum age 14 (Parental consent required).

Please come appropriately dressed for an equine yard with an approved riding hat, gloves and boots.

By making a booking you are declaring yourself medically fit to participate in the course.

Useful Information

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Tea and coffee making facilities are available, please bring any other refreshments.
