September 2020 Delivery
Our next academic term for our Further Education students will start as planned on Monday 7th September and we cannot wait to welcome new students to our beautiful campus. College life may be a little different - but don't let this get in the way of you achieving your goals and starting your chosen course in September.
We want to reassure you that we are committed to offering our courses in person in Writtle as much as we are able to, with some theory being taught online. We are grateful for our small community and expansive, open campus which will allow us to deliver many of the practical elements of your course in person, whilst we provide some taught theoretical sessions online. Following the latest Department of Education advice, we are currently working hard to plan exactly how each course and unit will be delivered and will provide an update as soon as we are able. If we do run some theory sessions online, we will support these with live demonstrations and Q&A sessions, encouraging an interactive experience with your course lecturers and fellow classmates. Where practical or studio sessions are part of the course unit, we will aim to run these, in line with social distancing measures, in groups of around 15-20 students maximum. Many of our class sizes are already smaller than this.
We have already shown that we can deliver the theory aspects of our courses online in a very effective way. Our current students have told us how much the online lessons over the past term benefited them, and how in some ways they preferred this method of delivery for many modules. They have told us that the ability to record and playback sessions enhanced learning.
We will be working harder than ever to make sure you receive the warmest welcome to our beautiful campus. Following UK government guidelines, we will open as many COVID-safe facilities as we can including the FE hub, library and our onsite catering outlets. Our friendly support services teams will also still continue to support you as normal.
