Canine Behaviour for Dog Walkers, Home Boarders and Day Carers

About the Course

This one day theory based course is designed as an introduction to canine behaviour for people working with dogs in a professional capacity as a dog walker, home boarder or a day carer. Looking at how to assess and monitor dog behaviour and manage dogs from different households.

Topics covered will include:

  • Meeting a dog and assessing its behaviour
  • Common canine signs and signals
  • When play is not play
  • Triggers and trigger stacking
  • Managing groups of dogs on a walk
Also, for home boarders/day carers; providing enrichment, how to monitor and record behaviour, handling dogs and human interactions.

Candidates must be over 16

Entry Requirements

By making a booking you are declaring yourself medically fit to participate in the course.

Useful Information

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Tea and coffee making facilities are available, please bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments.
