About the Course

This two day integrated training and assessment programme aimed at those employed in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping and grounds maintenance covers routine maintenance, operational techniques and safe use of machines with interchangeable heads; steel blade and nylon line.

Entry Requirements

We are governed by Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations therefore participants will not be allowed to start the course without wearing steel toe capped boots or shoes, gloves and suitable protective clothing which provides full cover for arms and legs. We strongly recommend also wearing a high visibility vest.

Participants are required to bring their own Personal Protective Equipment, but if this presents a problem we can provide:

• Eye protection, safety glasses or goggles to EN16:1995

• Face Shield or Visor

• Ear Defenders

• Gloves - adequate to protect hands against flying debris

By making a booking you are declaring yourself medically fit to participate in this course.

Useful Information

Writtle University College has several machines such as Stilh FS400 and Husqvarna HU345. Participants are encouraged to bring their own machine in “as used” condition along with operator manual and any spares eg air filters, blades, etc. We can then work on a “real” situation and do some routine servicing.

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
