Bee Keeping - A Brief Introduction

About the Course

This session will provide an understanding of the basics of bees and bee keeping, with both a theoretical and practical elements. The intention is to provide sufficient information to allow an informed decision about keeping bees.

Topics covered will include:

  • The importance of bees
  • The benefits of keeping bees
  • The products of the beehive
  • The hierarchy of the hive
Candidates will be given a demonstration of handling frames and live bees.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are advised to bring wellington boots.

By making a booking you are declaring yourself medically fit to participate in the course.

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.
