About the Course

This practical programme is aimed at those wanting to progress from the BHS Stage Two Certificate, in horse care.

Participants will be shown how to look after a number of horses using the equine industry's accepted protocols, in caring for stabled and grass kept horses.

Training focuses on understanding equine behaviour, physiology and measuring vital health signs. One session will be dedicated to Lunging.

The training is offered in preparation for the British Horse Society (BHS) Stage Three examination, not included in the cost.

Holders of the BHS Stage Three certificate are able to proceed on to BHS Stage Four. A full and detailed syllabus may be obtained from the British Horse Society website.

Registration and examination fees are paid separately and directly to BHS. BHS examinations must be booked no later than two weeks prior to the exam date.

Entry Requirements

Minimum age 14 (Parental consent required)

Minimum age to do BHS Stage 3 exams is 17 - BHS Stages 1 & 2 and BHS Ride Safe are pre-requisites for this BHS Examination.

Please come appropriately dressed for an equine yard.
