Allotments and Smallholdings - Spring / Summer

About the Course

This two day course is ideal for beginners and those with some gardening experience. Participants will be given advice on growing a range of vegetables, fruit and herbs to build confidence and raise awareness.

Topics covered will include:

• Correct sowing techniques

• Pricking-out

• Use of modular trays

• Use of protected structures

• Improving soil fertility

Participants will also receive information on a range of pests, diseases, disorders and weeds and advice on the implementation of a suitable control programme.

A Writtle University College Certificate of Attendance will be issued on completion of the course.

Entry Requirements

By making a booking you are declaring yourself medically fit to participate in the course

Useful Information

As with all practical courses participants are required to wear work clothes, sturdy footwear (steel toe capped preferred) and gloves.

Participants will require note taking equipment.

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Catering facilities are limited at the weekend therefore participants are advised to bring a packed lunch and all refreshments needed for the day.
