Abrasive Wheels

About the Course

This half day course is aimed at anyone using bench-mounted and hand-held electrical abrasive wheels. The course is designed to comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1999 and Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1998.

Topics covered include hazards and risks, handling and storage, wheel selection and mounting, guards and safe operation.

A Writtle University College Certificate of Attendance will be issued on completion of the course.

Entry Requirements

We are governed by Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations therefore candidates will not be allowed to start the course without wearing steel toe capped boots or shoes, gloves and suitable protective clothing which provides full cover for arms and legs. We strongly recommend also wearing a high visibility vest.

We have limited equipment and PPE therefore candidates are advised to bring their own eye protection, portable angle grinder and discs.

Useful Information

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Tea and coffee making facilities are available, please bring any other refreshments.
