(NOTE: This is an archived press release.)Dave Butcher, Principal at Writtle College, chose to show off the talents of the students for the College Christmas Card this year. All students across the College were invited to enter the 2007 Christmas card competition. Entries came from Design students to students from Horticultural courses. Hannah Vickers won the competition receiving £50 for her achievements, as well as the pride of seeing her designs posted out to associate businesses, organisations and individuals at the College.
Hannah, who is studying for her National Diploma in Art and Design, also received a number of printed copies of the Christmas card for her design portfolio. She was given her cheque and cards in a surprise presentation by Principal Dave Butcher, who was very impressed with the calibre of entries for the first year of the competition.
Jill Raggett, Landscape Management academic at the College, commented about the entries “a full range of designs were entered from traditional frosty mornings to modernistic snowflakes.”
The competition was open to all students at the College, with the brief to design a unique Christmas Card that represented their own design style and needed to include the wording “Season's Greetings from Everyone at Writtle College.” An exhibition of the entries will be held in the Writz restaurant on campus during the run up to the Christmas.
