In 2018 Writtle University College Landscape Architecture student Michael Ekers won the Best Student Portfolio Award with his project 'INDULGE ME' at the Landscape Institute Awards. The LI awards showcases the exceptional work of the many different types of landscape professionals including landscape designers, managers, planners and researchers.
As well as Michael’s great success in 2018, he was recently crowned joint winner of the Student Design Award Commercial category at the Society of Garden Designers Awards 2019 for his ‘Tithe Barn’ design.
Where judges said: 'Tithe Barn' is an incredibly professional design and an excellent visual presentation which captures and enhances the essence of the place. Simple but very confident. A brief beautifully answered.’
On Monday 4 of February, current Writtle students were lucky enough to receive an inspirational talk from undergraduate alumnus Michael, where he presented his third year BSc Landscape Architecture design project ‘Burrowing in the Dark Aleatory Systems as Design Catalyst', and explained how he developed theory into practice through a variety of design modes and processes.
Michael is currently undertaking the MA in Landscape Architecture with us at Writtle University College.
