Our sports courses are aimed at those who wish to pursue a more directed practical approach to the study of sport and exercise and the science involved in participation at all levels - from recreational to elite and from those in good health through to those with specific medical conditions. It combines academic theory with a strong practical approach to the science of coaching and performing.

On campus, students studying one of our sports courses enjoy access to a number of specialist facilities such as:

  • A recently refurbished sports analysis laboratory

  • Recreation centre which includes a sports hall, squash courts and gymnasium

The field of sport and exercise performance is a rapidly growing area with organisations looking for candidates with a high level of academic qualifications, as well as valid practical experience. The content of these courses allows for opportunities to gain various coaching awards and the chance to use theory gained in the working environment.

Having completed a sports degree, our graduates will go onto a variety of careers including P.E. teaching, Sports Development roles, coaching and physiotherapy. Many of our students also progress onto postgraduate study.
