About the Course

During this 3 hour practical programme, operatives will be given valuable advice on items such as:

• Manual Handling regulations

• Employer and Employee responsibilities

• Principles and benefits of safe lifting

• Use and selection of PPE

• Mechanics of the Body

• Identification of Hazards

• Lifting different types of load

• Pushing and pulling a load

• Moving a load with another person

• Securing Loads

Participants will be encouraged to bring items of equipment related to their work place, to realistically cover daily tasks. The course will provide a greater understanding of Manual Handling and the associated risks of poor lifting techniques.

Entry Requirements

Please come appropriately dressed for practical sessions.

Useful Information

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Participant may wish to bring their own packed lunch, although the Tea Rooms and college Garden Room restaurant are both open for lunch. Refreshments will be provided.
