Making a difference
Does my voice count?
The global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out a pathway of responsibility for every nation and individual to be accountable and to act with a sense of duty and care for fellow citizens and the natural environment. The concerns of food security, availability of fresh water, human health and well-being, and the protection of biodiversity and ecosystem function are no longer the responsibility of a chosen few. We all have a shared and collective duty to secure the health of the natural world and the peoples that depend on it.
you have a chance at Writtle University College to make a difference. If you have ideas and ambitions to contribute towards sustainability, whether a student, member of staff or a member of the public linked to WUC we will work with you.
The UN COP10 congress held in Nagoya, Japan in 2010 revealed the extent of threat to the world's natural capital. Ambitious new targets have been set for 2020 to safeguard biodiversity in order to secure the ecosystem services that are so vital to our survival and well-being. We believe in the motto, "No Nature, No Culture." Without a healthy planet we cannot expect to secure food, water and human well-being in the long-term. Your ideas for sustainability count, You have an opportunity at WUC to contribute and even change the future of WUC sustainability for the better.
