Help with Funding

Writtle University College Money Matters

At Writtle we recognise that the cost of studying can prevent students from taking the course that they want or force a student already enrolled to actually withdraw and abandon their studies.

Students who are experiencing severe financial difficulties are eligible to apply to one of the funds listed below:

Residential Bursaries / Travel Grants for 'Home' Post-GCSE applicants

The Government has provided additional financial assistance for students following full-time Further Education (post-GCSE) courses as payment towards their accommodation costs on campus or in private lodgings. The amount of the bursary will depend on personal or parental income, however up to 2,496 is available. Students who are unable to live in halls or lodgings may be eligible for a travel grant.

Each case is assessed on an individual basis, but to qualify students will need to demonstrate financial difficulties and live at least 15 miles away from the College. It is advisable to apply before your course begins.

Access to Learning Funds for 'Home' Students

These funds are available for full-time students and some part-time students undertaking a further or higher education course.

Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis, however applicants will need to demonstrate real financial hardship. The Access to Learning Fund exists to provide help with living costs including childcare, travel, accommodation, household expenses, books and course equipment.

College Special Support Fund

This College fund was established to help those students who do not qualify for any of the other financial assistance funds. It is available to all overseas students and those part-time students who are not eligible to apply to the Access to Learning Fund.

Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis, however applicants will need to demonstrate real financial hardship in relation to certain criteria such as accommodation, books and equipment, field/study trips or disability costs.
