Foundation Degree (FdSc) Sports Science with Aerial Performance - Writtle University College

Foundation Degree (FdSc) Sports Science with Aerial Performance

UCAS Code: W472

Aerial Performance Artist in hoop
  • The purpose of the aerial performance degree programme is to provide a balance of vocational and academic study that provides students with the underpinning practical training as an aerial acrobat to enable them to undertake a career in aerial performance. Furthermore, it will aim to develop an academic and scientific understanding of sport equipping each student with the skills to work within a sporting industry in ways complementing their aerial acrobatics abilities.

A core time will be spent exploring the scientific aspects of training to aid aerial acrobatics performance techniques with the remaining academic study balanced between practical laboratory or field work and time in the classroom learning the underpinning theory of the basic health sciences such as anatomy and physiology, nutrition and biomechanics and applying these to aerial acrobatic performance. Additionally, the aspects of coaching principles will also be addressed, affording each student practical experience and skills required for both the specific field of aerial performance as well as the broader needs of sport in general.
