About the Course

This training programme will provide participants with the basic principles of horse care and working under supervision, how to safely and efficiently undertake routine daily tasks. This will include how to look after a well-mannered horse in the stable and at grass.

The course will offer foundation knowledge and skills in preparation for the British Horse Society (BHS) Stage One examination, not included in the cost.

Holders of the BHS Stage One certificate are able to proceed on to BHS Stage Two. A full and detailed syllabus may be obtained from the British Horse Society website.

Registration and examination fees are paid directly to the BHS. BHS examinations must be booked no later than two weeks prior to the exam date.

Please come appropriately dressed for an equine yard

BHS Examination is planned for Friday 4 August 2017

Free parking is available on campus; a permit will be issued and should be clearly displayed.

Participants are advised to bring a packed lunch. Morning and afternoon refreshments are provided.
