Floristry Apprenticeships - Writtle University College

Floristry Apprenticeships

Horticulture

There are approximately 8,400 businesses in the floristry industry within the UK employing more than 25,000 people and an Apprenticeship is an ideal way to start your career in Floristry. The Apprenticeship allows you to study for your Level 2 or 3 qualifications whilst being paid as you gain invaluable work-experience in the industry. Florists create floral decorations for a range of events and occasions, from weddings to funerals, so customer care is very important. The work involves ordering, monitoring and caring for stock, cutting, arranging and wrapping flowers and designing arrangements and displays. Writtle University College has fully equipped, purpose built floristry rooms and boasts a group of highly qualified staff with extensive teaching experience in both teaching and the floristry industry.

The scheme provides a mix of on- and off-the-job training, at the same time as gaining a nationally-recognised qualification. Apprenticeships are open to all those aged over 16; whether you are just leaving school, are already in work or you want to start a new career.

Skills, experience and qualifications can all make you stand out to potential employers as you progress your career, so why not consider the best of both worlds with a Horticulture Apprenticeship, to give you a mix of on- and off-the-job learning at the same time as a nationally recognised qualification and earning a wage.

What is involved in the Apprenticeship?

The course combines developing your under-pinning knowledge in Floristry by attending College for one day a week, with building your practical experience by being employed in the industry. Over the duration of the course you will build up a portfolio to demonstrate your knowledge and practical skills. Our e-portfolio system allows you to evidence your skills and knowledge through photos and video, as well as written work. To find out about the benefits of being an Apprentice click here.
